Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a senior Perception Engineer to build real-time perception systems for autonomous aircraft. You will design and implement advanced algorithms for object detection, tracking, and sensor fusion across EO/IR, radar, and other sensors, while ensuring robust state estimation and integration with autonomy teams.

You will work with hardware teams to validate performance in simulation and on flight tests, handle ICDs, and push for efficient, reliable operation in GPS-denied

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically 7–10 years of related experience with a relevant degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience implementing real-time perception algorithms for autonomous systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced perception algorithms for object detection, classification, and tracking across sensors.
• Implement sensor fusion frameworks to create accurate situational awareness.
• Develop state estimation and localization using IMU, GPS, vision, and other inputs.
• Interpret ICDs and hardware specs to ensure proper data handling and synchronization.
• Optimize perception pipelines for real-time performance in simulation and field tests.
• Collaborate with autonomy, systems, and integration teams to align perception with planning and behavior.
