Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking a Lead Operations Engineer for Low Voltage in Oslo to ensure safe and reliable LV electrical systems in a mission-critical data centre.

The role carries responsibility for LV electrical installations on site and acts as the technical authority for LV systems, ensuring high availability of electrical infrastructure that underpins data centre uptime.

Qualifications

  • 7–12 years of experience in electrical operations or infrastructure environments.
  • Experience in data centres or mission-critical environments preferred.
  • Proven LV systems experience incl. distribution boards, switch gear, UPS.
  • Experience under electrical safety frameworks and regulated environments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the responsible engineer for LV installations ensuring safe operation.
  • Establish and maintain operational routines, risk assessments, and safety measures.
  • Act as technical authority for LV planning, execution and QC of work.
  • Own LV infrastructure including distribution boards, switch gear, UPS and critical equipment.
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance per data centre standards.
  • Lead incident response, root-cause analysis for LV faults in critical ops.
  • Maintain documentation and electrical safety procedures.
  • Oversee external contractors and ensure qualifications and compliance.
  • Ensure staff training and competence for electrical work.
  • Support competence development within the operations team.

Lead Operations Engineer – Low Voltage (Oslo, Norway)

NES Fircroft is supporting a major hyperscale data centre programme in Norway and is seeking an experienced Lead Operations Engineer – Low Voltage (LV) to join the operations organisation. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of low‑voltage electrical systems across a mission‑critical data centre environment.

The position carries formal responsibility for the safe operation of low‑voltage electrical installations and acts as the technical authority for LV systems on site. The successful candidate will ensure high availability of electrical infrastructure that underpins continuous data centre up time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the responsible engineer for low‑voltage installations, ensuring safe and compliant operation.
  • Establish and maintain operational routines, risk assessments, and electrical safety measures.
  • Act as technical authority for planning, execution, and quality control of LV‑related work.
  • Own and oversee LV infrastructure including distribution boards, switch gear, UPS systems, and associated critical equipment.
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is planned, executed, and documented to data centre standards.
  • Lead incident response, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis for LV faults affecting critical operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, internal control records, and electrical safety procedures.
  • Oversee external contractors performing electrical work, ensuring qualification, compliance, and adherence to site procedures.
  • Ensure personnel working on or near electrical installations have the required training, authorisation, and competence.
  • Support competence development within the operations team.
Essential Experience
  • 7–12 years of experience in electrical operations, maintenance, or infrastructure environments.
  • Significant experience working in data centres or other mission‑critical environments (essential).
  • Proven experience with LV systems including distribution, switch gear, and UPS.
  • Experience working within regulated electrical safety frameworks.
  • Experience supervising or guiding technical teams.
  • Experience acting as the responsible engineer for electrical installations is highly advantageous.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, or technical college qualification with relevant trade certification.
  • Meets professional qualification requirements for responsible electrical personnel.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant post‑education experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations and compliance frameworks.
  • Fluent in a Scandinavian language and English.
