Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Stavanger to drive the design and development of downhole wireline tools and related mechanical systems. You will lead multidisciplinary teams through concept, testing, and commercialization while ensuring compliance with HSE and quality standards.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes, plus hands-on experience with CAD tools and FEA. English fluency is required, Norwegian preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Proven experience in downhole tool design and development within wireline, completions, drilling, intervention, or other downhole technology environments.
• Strong proficiency with CAD tools and engineering analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and development of wireline tools and mechanical systems from concept through commercialization.
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis including stress, fatigue, vibration, and tolerance stack‑up.
• Develop and review engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, calculations, bills of materials, and documentation.
