Job summary

Andøya Space in Andenes is seeking an Operations Specialist to join the Operations Team as Meteorology Officer. You will monitor, analyze and interpret weather conditions to support safe and efficient launch operations, providing forecasts, briefings and GO/NO-GO assessments.

The role requires a meteorology-related degree (bachelor or master), strong technical understanding, English proficiency, and the ability to work in a dynamic, international environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master level education in meteorology or related field is desirable.
• Experience from technical, operational, or safety-critical environments may compensate for formal education.
• Strong technical understanding in high-risk environments is advantageous.
• Experience with weather forecasting, meteorological instrumentation, meteorological data analysis, Python, Linux or similar tools is beneficial.
• Good understanding of procedures, risk management and preparedness.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Valid driver's license (Class B) and eligibility for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and interpret weather conditions to support safe launch operations.
• Provide weather forecasts, operational briefings, and GO/NO-GO assessments based on mission criteria.
• Operate and coordinate weather balloon activities, maintain data quality.
• Support flight safety through collaboration with operational teams and post-mission reviews.
