Job summary

The Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, GA seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) to lead and deliver respiratory care. The role covers diagnostics, therapy, monitoring, family education, and patient support across all ages, with potential supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements include RRT/CRT, AMA-approved respiratory program, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and broad clinical expertise in cardiopulmonary care.

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
• Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required on hire; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
• Extensive experience in all areas of Respiratory Care including diagnostic testing, therapeutics, monitoring, rehabilitation, home care, and education; neonatal to geriatric care.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Position Description

Responsible for direction of Respiratory Care Department, administers respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system. Performs diagnostic tests of cardiovascular and pulmonary system to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment of heart and lung disorders. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities.

Physical / Mental Demands

• Ability to think and work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions; to move, sit, stand, walk and bend intermittently throughout the workday, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these sources to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
• Use of mechanical and technical equipment required for the responsibilities assigned.

Minimal Qualifications

• Extensive experience in and possessing a strong understanding of all areas of Respiratory Care including but not limited to diagnostic testing, therapeutics, monitoring, rehabilitation, home care, and patient, family, and public education. Clinical Evaluation and assessment skills are required for all age groups of patients served by the facility including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. One-year supervisory experience preferred but not required.
