Ivy Rock Partners Ltd is recruiting an Interim Head of Finance for a national museum in Central London. The role is part-time (3–4 days/week), 6-month fixed-term, with salary £60,000–£65,000 FTE.

You will lead a small finance team, drive robust financial controls, and report to senior stakeholders while ensuring continuity during organisational change. Job description

A leading national museum seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance to provide leadership and continuity through a period of organisational change.

Leading a small finance team, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the finance function, ensuring strong financial controls, compliance and reporting while providing senior financial expertise to the wider organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on financial leadership with business partnering, working closely with directors and budget holders to strengthen financial understanding and support effective decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and develop a small finance team, providing oversight and technical support.
• Maintain strong financial controls, governance and compliance, including required government reporting.
• Oversee year-end and ensure the organisation is well prepared for its 31 March year-end.
• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, including reviewing forecasts and preparing financial information for the Board.
• Partner with directors and budget holders, providing financial advice, challenge and support.
• Continue to improve finance processes, reporting and automation, including the effective use of NetSuite.
• Provide financial oversight of the organisation's trading subsidiary, including profitability, costing and appropriate cross-charging.

You will:

• Be an experienced finance professional with a strong background in financial control and leading small finance teams.
• Be comfortable operating independently as the organisation's senior day-to-day finance expert.
• Ideally be a qualified accountant, although QBE candidates with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
• Ideally have experience within a charity, not-for-profit or publicly funded organisation.
• Have strong budgeting, forecasting, year-end and financial reporting experience.
• Experience overseeing a trading subsidiary would be advantageous.
• Be an approachable and pragmatic business partner, confident working with senior stakeholders and non-finance colleagues.
• Be comfortable maintaining business-as-usual delivery while identifying practical improvements to systems and processes.
