Job summary

Marks Sattin is recruiting a Financial Accountant to join a London-based international bank on a 6-month fixed-term contract, hybrid. There is potential for permanent placement and exposure to IFRS reporting and banking products.

The ideal candidate is a recently ACA-qualified auditor with Big 4 or Top 10 audit experience, strong numeracy, advanced Excel, and the ability to work with non-finance stakeholders. Immediate availability is required.

Financial Accountant | 6-Month FTC | Banking

• Role Suitability: Recently qualified ACA with an audit background from either the Big 4 (will accept candidates with or without financial services audit experience) or top 10 (must have financial services audit experience).

We're supporting an international bank with the appointment of a Financial Accountant to join its Financial Control team on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with potential for the role to become permanent.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recently ACA-qualified accountant looking to make their first move from practice into industry, gaining valuable exposure to financial reporting, technical accounting and banking products within an international financial institution.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the production of statutory and year-end financial reporting.
• Preparing supporting analysis, schedules and disclosures for financial statements.
• Contributing to regular management reporting and financial analysis.
• Researching new accounting requirements and considering their implications for the business.
• Applying IFRS principles to transactions, financial instruments and banking activities.
• Reviewing accounting entries and investigating unusual or complex transactions.
• Working with Finance, Operations and business teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Performing analytical reviews and identifying where adjustments may be required.
• Supporting the maintenance and improvement of accounting processes and controls.
• Responding to requests from internal and external auditors.
• Contributing to finance change initiatives, including testing, implementation and data-related projects.
• Reviewing journals and supporting the wider team with technical accounting queries.
• Helping improve processes and documentation across the Finance function.

Requirements:

• Recently qualified ACA with an audit background from either the Big 4 (will accept candidates with or without financial services audit experience) or top 10 (must have financial services audit experience).
• Candidates must be immediately available to start the contract or on a short notice period (max 2 weeks).
• Experience auditing or preparing financial statements.
• Strong numerical and analytical capability, with excellent attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of financial information.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders outside of Finance.
