Job summary

Shearwater GeoServices is seeking a Marine Project Controller to join the Finance team in Bergen. This role ensures robust project accounting and accurate financial reporting across marine projects and vessel operations.

You will work with Operations Managers to translate operational activity into meaningful financial information, support forecasting and performance analysis, and drive improvements in financial reporting and control processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related discipline.
• 2-3 years' experience in Project Controlling, Project Accounting, Management Accounting, FP&A or Operational Finance.
• Good understanding of project accounting, revenue recognition and month-end close processes.
• Experience supporting forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to work collaboratively across operational and finance functions.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of financial control and reporting for assigned marine projects and vessels, ensuring accurate performance.
• Collaborate with Operations Managers to translate operational activity into financial information.
• Contribute to project accounting, revenue recognition and month-end close activities.
• Coordinate month-end close, prepare accruals, validate costs and revenues, investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain project forecasts, analyze variances and provide insights into performance.
