Job summary

Reboot Monkey is seeking a Freelance Data Center Technician to deliver on‑demand support for global data centers. You will install, troubleshoot, and manage hardware, networks, and servers, while collaborating with remote teams to ensure high performance and reliability.

You should have deep data center experience, be able to work independently, and be comfortable with remote coordination and travel to varied data center locations as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in data center operations, including freelance work.
• Associate or Bachelor’s in CS/IT preferred but not required.
• Cisco and Juniper networking device experience.
• Windows and Linux system management.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, VLANs.
• VMware or Hyper‑V virtualization experience is a plus.
• Certifications like CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, or CompTIA Linux+ desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment, and other hardware to ensure uptime.
• Monitor data center operations remotely and on-site, diagnosing issues to minimize downtime.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot networking devices (Cisco/Juniper) to standards.
• Manage Linux and Windows systems, apply updates and security patches.
• Document installations, repairs, maintenance, and performance; report to remote team.
• Implement and maintain security protocols to protect data center infrastructure.
• Collaborate with remote IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders on projects.
