Job summary

Balder is expanding its firmware team to build the brains for a global sensor network. You will write the core firmware for our ultra-low-power container sensors designed for global tracking via cellular and satellite links.

You will own firmware development end-to-end, collaborate closely with hardware and cloud engineers, and focus on reliability, test coverage, and battery life in harsh environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in embedded systems development with C/C++.
• Strong understanding of low-level hardware interfaces and protocols (I2C, SPI, UART).
• Solid debugging skills with logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Ability to read schematics and electronics fundamentals.
• Eligible to work in Norway (work authorization or citizenship).
• Recent graduates: portfolio of firmware or embedded systems projects.

Responsibilities

• Write firmware for low-power IoT devices and sensors.
• Develop core logic for next-generation container sensors.
• Collaborate with hardware and cloud software teams.
• Design for ultra-low power consumption and long battery life.
• Build and maintain robust test suites and automation for firmware validation.
• Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and cloud integration issues.
