Job summary

MacGregor is seeking an E&I Engineer to design, optimize, and analyze electrical systems across our maritime product portfolio. Based in Kristiansand or Arendal, Norway, you will work from tender reviews to supporting cross-functional teams with technical guidance to ensure high performance and safety.

The role welcomes both experienced engineers and motivated graduates, with opportunities to contribute across lifecycle stages and maintain compliance with marine/offshore standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or equivalent (B.Sc. or M.Sc.).
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design standards, and classification society requirements.
• Strong analytical skills for conducting technical calculations and various analyses.
• Spoken and written fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, and optimise electrical systems for new and existing products.
• Perform electrical calculations and analyse systems to identify issues or improvements.
• Evaluate incoming customer specifications during bid stage, identify deviations and build accurate tender packages.
• Ensure engineering outputs are aligned with project schedules, budgets and classification regulations.
• Participate in risk assessments, root-cause and FMEA/FMECA analyses, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Technical Advisors, Product Owners and Discipline Manager.

We are looking for an E&I Engineer to design, optimize, and analyse electrical systems across our product portfolio. In this role, you will work on engineering deliverables through the entire project lifecycle, from reviewing customer specifications during the tender phase to supporting cross-functional teams and clients with technical guidance. Your main goal will be ensuring our systems remain high-performing, safe, and fully compliant with marine and offshore standards. We are open to both experienced engineers and motivated junior candidates or recent engineering graduates ready to start their career.

More Tasks And Responsibilities

• Design, modify, and optimise electrical systems for new and existing products
• Perform electrical calculations and analyse systems to identify any potential issues or areas for improvements
• Evaluate incoming customer specifications during the bid stage, identifying technical deviations and building accurate tender packages
• Keep engineering outputs aligned with project schedules, budgets, and strict classification society regulations
• Participate in technical risk assessments, root-cause and FMEA/FMECA analysis, and troubleshooting activities
• Collaborate with and provide technical input to Engineers, Technical Advisors, Product Owners, and Discipline Manager

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager Control Systems. This position can be based in Kristiansand or Arendal, Norway.

Ideally you have

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or equivalent (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) – while experience is welcome, motivated entry-level applicants are highly encouraged to apply
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design standards, and classification society requirements
• Strong analytical skills for conducting technical calculations and various analysis
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across multi-disciplinary project teams
• Spoken and written fluency in English
