Job summary

Zaptec is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop software for real chargers, enabling reliable car charging experiences across Europe. You’ll own tasks, collaborate with seasoned engineers, and gradually work across the system as you grow.

Depending on background, you may have professional experience or come from university projects, internships, or personal work. Teams split around Zaptec Go (FreeRTOS/ESP32, C on RTOS) and Zaptec Pro (Linux/Yocto with device trees, drivers and network

Qualifications

A degree in Computer Science, Cybernetics or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience writing C or C++ from work, university projects or personal projects.
Understanding of hardware-software interaction is valued.
Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, Linux, FreeRTOS, or cloud-connected devices is useful.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain embedded applications for Zaptec Go and Zaptec Pro with focus on quality and reliability.
Write bare-metal C for microcontrollers performing timing-sensitive tasks.
Contribute to Yocto-based Linux development with device trees and drivers.
Build and maintain charger-cloud communication with Azure services.
Monitor field devices, investigate issues, and push fixes via OTA updates.
Collaborate across embedded software, hardware, cloud, app, and production teams.
