Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Zaptec, a Norwegian consumer IoT leader in EV charging, seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to own complex problems bridging hardware, embedded software, cloud, and production. You will shape designs, review code, and guide junior engineers while delivering robust, long‑term solutions for Zaptec Go and Zaptec Pro platforms.
You will write bare‑metal C, advance Yocto/Linux development, and design reliable device–cloud interfaces.
Solve the hard problems behind everyday EV charging.
We combine the latest tech with human-centered design to offer highly intuitive and efficient EV chargers that ensure easier access to personal electric transport.
This gives people the freedom and potential to travel into a more sustainable future. How neat is that?
Within just a few years, we’ve built our domestic market‑leading position by supplying superior charging installations for housing co‑ops and private homes alike.
As a Norwegian EV pioneer, our goals are aimed at bringing the best charging technology to the rest of the world. Are you up for this challenge?
Zaptec is a consumer IoT company with more than 750,000 chargers installed across Europe. Our chargers are physical, internet‑connected products that receive automatic over‑the‑air updates, so the software has to keep working long after it leaves the development environment and reaches customers' homes.
At this scale, the most interesting problems rarely stay within one layer. They run through hardware, embedded software, cloud communication, production and devices already operating in the field.
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you'll take ownership of complex technical problems across these boundaries. You'll make trade‑offs explicit, help shape designs and technical direction, review code and designs, and improve how we build and maintain our products. You'll also support the development of other engineers by sharing context, challenging assumptions and helping the team make sound technical decisions.
Our embedded software teams work on two charger platforms. Engineers generally join one device team and work primarily with that team's platform:
Zaptec Pro uses Linux/Yocto, including device trees, drivers and network interfaces, together with a C# application running on the embedded Linux platform.
Some of the things you'll spend time on:
Some personal skills we value
Not sure this role fits you the best?
We're hiring Embedded Software Engineers at different experience levels. Both roles work with the same products and technologies, the difference is mainly the level of experience, independence and complexity you are expected to navigate from the start.
We'll explore the right level together during the process.
Join in! Yes, we do spend a lot of time in front of our desks, but we also love coffee, conversations, nerdy talks, lunches and jokes.
We strive to be the best at what we do, both in the eyes of our customers and our coworkers. We believe in a flexible and trustworthy way of working. We focus on results, not necessarily the approach because we respect that each coworker has unique ways of working to reach the target.
Customer experience is the core of everything we do to provide a worry-free EV life.
We believe in our employees' uniqueness and the multidisciplinary way of working, and we work collaboratively toward a common goal.
Zaptec's products and services are making a difference to EV drivers, as we provide EV owners the freedom to charge from home and explore new adventures. By joining our team, you are joining us in our mission to create a more sustainable and electrical future, providing user-oriented EV charging experiences.
Surround yourself with highly motivated fellow Zapiens who support one another to reach our common goal. At Zaptec, you will impact improving the EV journey globally.
We don't care about your background, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs or age. We do care about equal respect. We're just humans. And sometimes we fuck up.
