Job summary

Zaptec, a Norwegian consumer IoT leader in EV charging, seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to own complex problems bridging hardware, embedded software, cloud, and production. You will shape designs, review code, and guide junior engineers while delivering robust, long‑term solutions for Zaptec Go and Zaptec Pro platforms.

You will write bare‑metal C, advance Yocto/Linux development, and design reliable device–cloud interfaces.

Qualifications

• Strong experience developing embedded software in C or C++.
• Experience building software that interacts closely with hardware.
• Experience with communication protocols and peripheral integration.
• Familiarity with Bluetooth Low Energy, sockets, HTTP, MQTT, Linux, Yocto, FreeRTOS or cloud-connected devices is useful, but expertise in every area is not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve embedded applications for Zaptec Go or Zaptec Pro, focusing on long-term quality, reliability and maintainability.
• Write bare-metal C for microcontrollers that perform timing-sensitive tasks in EV chargers.
• Advance Yocto-based Linux development through device trees, drivers and network interfaces.
• Design and evolve communication between chargers and Azure services as new features are introduced.
• Investigate complex issues across device software, hardware and cloud, including field problems.
• Make architectural and technical trade-offs and translate challenges into practical solutions.
• Review code and designs, strengthen engineering practices, and mentor colleagues.
• Collaborate across embedded software, hardware, cloud, app and production to deliver complete solutions.
