Job description

Location: Norway (project office location to be confirmed)

Working arrangement: On-site

About the opportunity

We are assembling a project delivery team for a large-scale onshore hydrogen project in Norway. As part of this team build, we are looking for an experienced Contract Manager to take ownership of the commercial management of multiple contractor packages within an EPCM delivery environment.

This is an owner-side role, embedded within the client team. You will be expected to operate independently, challenge where needed, and keep the project moving - not simply administer contracts.

What you will do
  • Manage contractor interfaces, obligations and performance across multiple packages
  • Handle claims, variations and emerging entitlement issues commercially and proactively
  • Protect project cost and schedule through disciplined contract administration and early identification of risk
  • Work closely with project controls, engineering and procurement to ensure cross-package coordination
  • Support dispute prevention and resolution, applying sound commercial judgement throughout
  • Contribute to the wider project team's goal of delivering quality outcomes on time and below budget
What we are looking for
  • A substantial part of your career spent on onshore EPC or EPCM projects in chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, gas processing or similar process industries
  • Demonstrated ability to create value - not just report on contracts, but actively protect cost, schedule and quality
  • Strong understanding of the difference between EPCM and EP delivery, including the owner-side coordination and accountability involved
  • Experience with standard contract forms (NEC, FIDIC or equivalent) and practical claims management
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary project team while maintaining commercial independence
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where pragmatism matters as much as process
Background
  • An engineering background is preferred, though candidates from other professional backgrounds with strong commercial project delivery credentials will be considered
  • Direct hydrogen experience is a plus but not essential - proven delivery on complex, multi-contractor energy or industrial projects is what matters
  • Offshore-only backgrounds are not suitable for this role
What this role is not

This is not a reporting or administrative position. We are looking for someone who can independently verify plans, identify marginal gains across functions, and improve the commercial outcome of the project. The expectation is hands-off value creation across cost, time and quality.
