Job summary

Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager for a major onshore hydrogen project in Norway. You will own cost, schedule and performance management across a multi-contractor EPCM delivery, embedded in the client team, protecting the programme and driving real outcomes rather than just reporting.

Qualifications

• Proven project controls experience on large-scale onshore EPC or EPCM capital projects.
• Background in chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, gas processing, fertiliser or similar process industries.
• Demonstrated ability to create value — actively reducing cost, protecting schedule and preventing rework, not just tracking and reporting.
• Strong understanding of the difference between EPCM and EPC delivery, including the owner-side coordination and accountability involved.
• Hands-on experience with earned value management, WBS structures, cost benchmarking and critical-path scheduling.
• Comfortable operating as part of a multidisciplinary project team while maintaining independence to challenge contractors.
• Pragmatic — able to add targeted value without over-resourcing.

Responsibilities

• Own the integrated cost and schedule baseline across multiple contractor packages.
• Deliver earned value analysis, cost forecasting and schedule risk assessment that drives decisions — not just informs them.
• Identify critical-path risks early, improve sequencing and interfaces, and turn planning into practical delivery actions.
• Challenge inflated allowances, protect contingency and proactively flag avoidable spend.
• Work closely with contract management, engineering and procurement to ensure cross-package coordination.
• Provide independent verification of contractor progress, claims and change impacts.
• Contribute to the wider project team's goal of delivering quality outcomes on time and below budget.

About the opportunity

We are assembling a team of experts to advise on a major onshore hydrogen project in Norway. As part of this team build, we are looking for an experienced Project Controls Manager to take ownership of cost, schedule and performance management across a complex, multi-contractor EPCM delivery environment.

This is an owner-side role, embedded within the client team. You will be expected to actively protect the programme, challenge assumptions, and drive real cost and schedule outcomes — not simply produce monthly reports.

What you will do

• Own the integrated cost and schedule baseline across multiple contractor packages

Background

• Direct hydrogen experience is a plus but not essential — proven delivery on complex, multi‑contractor energy or industrial projects is what matters
• Offshore‑only backgrounds are not suitable for this role

What this role is not

This is not a reporting or administrative position. We are looking for someone who can independently verify plans, spot critical‑path risks before they become delays, and actively find opportunities to reduce capex. The expectation is hands‑on value creation across cost, schedule and quality.
