Job summary

Vipps is hiring an engineering manager to lead and grow the Platform & AI team in Oslo, driving cloud platform strategy and AI enablement. You’ll balance hands-on technical direction with people leadership while shaping secure, scalable infrastructure.

You’ll oversee Azure-based core infrastructure, IaC, and automation, collaborating with architecture, product, and security to deliver reliable platform capabilities for internal teams.

Qualifications

• Experience leading, coaching, and developing engineers.
• Solid foundation in cloud engineering (Azure, Kubernetes, IaC).
• Ability to set direction and turn needs into priorities.
• Experience creating effective cross-team ways of working.
• Product-minded approach for internal platforms with developers as customers.
• Balance reliability, security, cost, and delivery speed.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and automation.
• Strong communication and inclusive leadership.
• Bias for simplification and measurable impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead the platform team: hiring, coaching, performance, and career development.
• Shape the cloud platform on Azure (AKS, PaaS) and managed services.
• Enable AI across the company with governance and safety.
• Write infrastructure as code using Terraform and/or Bicep.
• Automate changes with GitOps tools (Argo CD, Helm, Kustomize).
• Ensure identity, secrets, and network controls are secure.
• Design for high availability and cost-efficient scaling.
• Collaborate with architecture, product, and security teams to translate needs.
• Contribute to internal standards and roadmaps as the team grows.
