Job summary

Mercor is seeking a native Bengali speaker for meticulous document annotation tasks. You will identify and bound meaningful regions, transcribe Bengali text with exact accuracy, and ensure correct reading order across diverse layouts such as handwritten or multi-column pages.

In this role, you will work on publicly accessible Bengali PDFs, annotate structure, and collaborate with a second Bengali expert during reviews to maintain strict quality standards.

Qualifications

• Native Bengali speaker with full command of Bengali script and orthography.
• Character-level accuracy matters; diacritics must be correct.
• Experience with document annotation or transcription is preferred.
• Able to work with diverse Bengali documents and layouts.

Responsibilities

• Source Bengali documents and locate publicly accessible PDFs.
• Annotate page structure: title, headings, paragraphs, tables, figures, captions, etc., with correct type and reading order.
• Record relationships between regions and the pages they belong to.
• Transcribe text exactly as it appears in Bengali script, flagging illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata and participate in peer-review by a second Bengali expert.
