Job summary

NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology is seeking an Associate Professor for the Games and Immersive Technology Lab at the Gjøvik campus. The role targets near-real-time interactive software engineering, with games and immersive technologies as primary applications, linking research with practice.

You will lead research and education, secure ERC/FRIPRO funding, shape lab strategy, and contribute to teaching across BSc, MSc, PhD programmes.

Qualifications

• PhD in computer science or related field.
• Strong research record in games and interactive systems.
• Strong programming skills including C.
• Excellent teaching abilities across CS courses.
• Norwegian level B2; willingness to learn within three years.
• Document teaching/supervision competence per NTNU guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and education in games and near-real-time systems.
• Secure competitive funding (ERC/FRIPRO).
• Shape the Games and Immersive Technology Lab's future.
• Teach at undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels in relevant areas.
• Develop open-source prototypes and tools for research and teaching.
• Collaborate with industry and external stakeholders.
• Engage in outreach and dissemination activities.
• Participate in departmental management with the Head of Department.
