Job summary

University of Bergen’s Department of Mathematics seeks a permanent Researcher 1109 in applied mathematics and computational science for geological porous materials. The successful candidate will work within the Porous Media Research Group, contributing to multiphase flow simulations and related mathematical analysis.

You will supervise PhD and MSc theses, engage with CSSR and gigaCCS centers, and help secure external funding.

Qualifications

• PhD in computational/applied mathematics or closely related field.
• Strong background in numerical analysis and PDEs.
• Experience with simulation technology development.
• Good English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze solver technology for multiphase flow in deformable porous media.
• Supervise PhD and MSc theses with relevant topics.
• Support integration of center activities and annual working plans.
• Contribute to outreach and communication with society and industry.
