Job summary

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Bergen invites applications for a permanent Researcher 1109 position in applied mathematics and computational science. The appointment covers 2027-2031 funded centers CSSR and gigaCCS, with potential for securing external funding.

The successful candidate will supervise PhD/MSc students, contribute to annual plans, and engage in outreach with industry, while demonstrating excellent English and collaborative skills.

Qualifications

• PhD in computational/applied mathematics or closely related field with evidence of strong research in numerical analysis.
• Experience with multiphase flow in porous media or geomechanics is preferred.
• Ability to secure external funding and supervise students.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze solver technology for multiphase flow in deformable porous media.
• Supervise PhD and MSc students and contribute to annual work plans.
• Engage in outreach, reporting, and coordination with CSSR and gigaCCS centers.
