Job summary

Van Storm, a leading Dutch yacht builder, seeks a Yachtbuilding Project Engineer (Mechanical Systems) to coordinate the engineering process across the yacht construction lifecycle. You will ensure timely delivery of engineering information, supplier documentation, and key interfaces to support multi-disciplinary build teams.

The role emphasizes coordination over detailed design, with focus on systems such as exhaust, water, fuel, cooling, ventilation, and air/pressurised systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in yachtbuilding or shipbuilding mechanical engineering
• Experience coordinating engineering activities, technical interfaces, suppliers, or deliverables in shipbuilding projects
• Strong understanding of onboard mechanical systems (piping, ventilation, cooling, fuel, exhaust, water)
• Ability to interpret engineering documentation, technical specifications, and supplier information
• Experience with CATIA is preferred; familiarity with Siemens NX advantageous
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Excellent command of English (C1–C2)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the engineering process for onboard mechanical systems throughout the yacht construction lifecycle
• Monitor engineering progress, deliverables, and planning to ensure timely execution
• Coordinate technical interfaces between engineering disciplines, suppliers, procurement, and production teams
• Review and manage supplier documentation, technical specifications, and engineering deliverables
• Support system integration by ensuring consistency between engineering packages and onboard installation requirements
• Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, and planning challenges, proposing practical solutions
• Track engineering changes and align stakeholders throughout the project
• Support budget monitoring and cost awareness within the mechanical engineering scope
• Ensure compliance with class requirements, technical standards, and project specifications
• Act as a key point of contact for mechanical engineering matters during construction and commissioning
