Job summary

Shelby Transportation seeks a Maintenance & Relief Operator for the Water Treatment Plant. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, buildings, and systems to support safe plant operation.

You will also serve as relief Shift Operator, covering 12-hour shifts and handling laboratory tests, SCADA monitoring, and recordkeeping. Requires a high school diploma or GED with mechanical/electrical troubleshooting knowledge and the ability to obtain Ohio EPA Class I Water

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Demonstrated mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting knowledge. Water treatment/industrial maintenance experience preferred.
• Math and chemistry knowledge; coursework in surface-water treatment preferred.
• Ability to obtain Ohio EPA Class I Water Supply Operator Certification within 18 months.
• Laboratory certification and continuing education for operator duties required.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Residency as required by the City.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of WTP equipment, buildings, treatment systems, and remote facilities.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, service equipment, and maintain maintenance documentation.
• Serve as relief Shift Operator, covering 12-hour shifts; operate plant, conduct laboratory tests, monitor SCADA, and keep regulatory records.
