Job summary

Sompo is seeking a VP, Head of Claims BeNe to lead the BeNe Claims Department from Rotterdam or Brussels. You will shape strategy, oversee settlements, reserves, and risk controls while collaborating with senior leadership across BeNe and Continental Europe.

The role requires a strong track record in technical claims, team leadership, and fluency in Dutch and English (French beneficial). You will drive excellence in claims handling and client relations in a dynamic global team.

Qualifications

• BeNe insurance market knowledge.
• Degree level education; legal qualification desirable.
• Experience managing teams and claims handlers.
• High degree of technical claims expertise across multiple lines of business.
• Excellent Dutch and English; French proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations on claims settlements and establish reserves.
• Ensure adherence to governance standards, risk management, and related procedures.
• Monitor KPIs and oversee outsourced claims handling.
• Participate as a senior leader in the global Sompo claims team.
• Mentor and train junior team members; manage senior staff.
• Collaborate with function heads to align claims with company goals.
• Provide management information to improve underwriting quality.
• Manage relationships with clients, brokers, and service providers.
