VP Engineering: Hyperscale Data Centre Delivery (EMEA)

Job summary

Umbilical Advanced is seeking an experienced leader to drive delivery of hyperscale data centre programmes across Europe and the Middle East. You will own end-to-end delivery from design through handover, and you will lead a multidisciplinary team.

This role requires strategic governance, risk management and close collaboration with EPC partners, operators and customers, with 30-50% travel. You will influence engineering strategy while managing complex regional portfolio.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering hyperscale or mission-critical data centre programmes.
• 15+ years' experience within data centres or other critical infrastructure environments.
• Experience leading multi-site engineering or programme delivery teams.
• Proven ability to manage large capital programmes with schedule, cost, quality and risk.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure (MV/LV, UPS, generators, cooling).
• Experience managing EPC partners, consultants and major contractors.
• Excellent stakeholder management across executives, customers, utilities and regulators.
• Ability to balance speed, quality, commercial performance and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Own the successful delivery of every EMEA data centre programme from design through to operational handover.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of Technical Program Managers and Engineering SMEs.
• Manage multiple concurrent hyperscale projects across Europe and the Middle East.
• Drive programme governance, reporting, risk management and executive visibility across the regional portfolio.
• Build strong relationships with EPC partners whilst ensuring quality, schedule, cost and safety targets are achieved.
• Support site selection, due diligence and early-stage engineering for future developments.
• Work closely with finance to oversee capital planning, forecasting and programme budgets.
• Ensure every facility is fully commissioned, energised and operationally ready before handover.
• Travel across EMEA will typically be between 30-50% during key milestones.
