National Veterinary Associates (NVA) is seeking a Veterinary Assistant at North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital to support patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and assist with diagnostics and daily tasks.

This role offers opportunities to work with a progressive medical team in a well-equipped facility, with a focus on Fear Free handling, teamwork, and high standards of care. Starting pay is $15/hour with raises as experience grows.

Qualifications

  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle them when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
  • Prefer 1+ years of experience but not required.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job; lift 40 lbs.
  • Familiar with Fear Free techniques.
  • Walks or stands for extended periods; works in bent or squatting positions.
  • Works well with all levels of hospital team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care and treatment.
  • Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in post-surgery care.
  • Maintain inventory and stocking.
  • Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
  • Assist with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal).
  • Sterilize surgical instruments/equipment and maintain sterile environment.
  • Clean/disinfect cages, kennels, and treatment areas.
  • Administer medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision.
  • Feed/bathe animals.
  • Assist clients with their pets.

North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital is located beside Lake Norman in Cornelius, North Carolina, which is a quick 20 minute drive to the heart of uptown Charlotte and a short road-trip away from the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway or the Carolina coast.

We are seeking full-time Veterinary Assistants to join our multi-doctor practice.

Job Overview:
  • Assist with patient care and treatment
  • Monitor hospitalized pets. Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery

  • Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs, running bloodwork, reading fecal)
  • Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
  • Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
  • Administering medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision
  • Feeding/bathing animals
  • Helping clients with their pets
Qualifications:
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
  • Prefer 1+ years of experience but not required.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals. Should be able to lift 40lbs on own.
  • Familiar with Fear Free techniques.
  • Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position.
  • Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
Pay:

Starting at $15 per hour. Pay increases with experience and certifications.
