Job summary

Nationale Nederlanden (NN) in The Hague is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to drive digital change and support our move to a product-oriented tech company. The role is based in The Hague with a hybrid work model and a start date of October 1 for six months with a potential extension.

You will work with React Native, TypeScript, AWS and GraphQL, owning customer-facing services and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building production-grade apps with React Native, React and TypeScript.
• Designing and maintaining shared libraries or SDKs, with a strong focus on API design, versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Strong mobile security knowledge including biometrics, PIN/OTP flows, secure storage, and identity verification.

What you are going to do

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will help us create a more tech-driven culture at NN. In this role, you will:

• Work with modern technologies such as React Native, Typescript, AWS, and GraphQL
• Build new projects from scratch and contribute to expanding or modernizing existing applications
• Take ownership of services used directly by customers or embedded throughout the organization
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and maintain reliable and scalable solutions

The team owns dozens of services that support both our end users and the broader NN organization.

The ideal candidate has passion for technology and wants to learn continuously and push the team to reach our common goals.

• 7+ years of experience building production-grade applications with React Native, React, and TypeScript
• Experience designing and maintaining shared libraries or SDKs, with a strong focus on API design, versioning, and backward compatibility
• Strong understanding of mobile authentication and security, including biometrics, PIN/OTP flows, secure storage, and identity verification
• Experience working across JavaScript and native mobile platforms (iOS/Android), collaborating on React Native bridge integrations
• Strong software engineering practices, including testing, code quality, CI/CD, and delivering reliable, maintainable solutions in Agile teams
