Job summary

Zanders invites master's students to join its Risk Advisory Group as a thesis intern for five days a week. You will conduct a self-driven research project with guidance from our consultants and apply quantitative methods to real financial risk challenges for banks, insurers and asset managers.

Your role:

Our Risk Advisory Group is looking for curious and motivated master’s students to join us for a thesis internship (5 days per week). This is a great opportunity to apply your quantitative or technical background in a real-world setting and explore the world of Financial Risk Management consulting.

The team focuses on financial risk related projects (such as Credit risk, ALM, Financial Crime Prevention, Anti-Money Laundering, Transaction Monitoring etc) for banks, insurers and asset managers where data and analytics play a key role. In your role as a thesis intern you will set up a research project with the support of Zanders in an independent and proactive way. You’ll work on a self-driven research project, with support and guidance from our consultants, while gaining hands-on experience in client work at Zanders.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will work on your thesis for 3 days a week and 2 days you will be supporting our consultants with projects for clients and/or projects for Zanders, to experience what it is like to be a Consultant at Zanders,

• Develop a research topic that excites you, with freedom to bring your own ideas and innovations,

• Gain insight into how technical expertise translates into client advice and impact,

• Apply quantitative methods, data analysis, and modelling to real financial risk challenges,

• Work with colleagues who will support you throughout your journey: from shaping your research proposal to reviewing your final thesis.

Skills to be successful:

• Quantitative studies like Econometrics, Computer Science, Machine Learning/AI, Applied Physics, and (Applied) Mathematics or similar,

• Interest in risk management, financial markets and or data-driven decision making,

• Independent, creative and analytically strong,

• Good communication skills, fluent in English,

• Passion for problem solving, advising and client facing projects,

• Preferably, you have experience working with Excel or have gained programming (Python) skills during your study.
