Job description

Longevity Partners is a global, independent sustainability partner to real estate parties, from investors and developers to occupiers. Founded in 2015, we bring together technical depth, financial expertise, insight into laws and regulations and digital tools together to create measurable impact, from strategy development to on-the-ground execution.

About the Role

As a Sustainability & Energy Analyst you will contribute to leading projects at local, European or international level to significantly improve the sustainability of the built environment. You will be based at our Amsterdam office in the city centre.

You will work across both new build and standing assets, and across the full breadth of our technical services: BREEAM New Construction alongside design teams, BREEAM In-Use and GRESB on standing portfolios, climate risk assessment, and energy auditing and building performance analysis. You will report to a Senior Sustainability & Energy Consultant, who will help you build a broad technical base across those services before you specialise in the areas that interest you most. The work is European in scope, so you should expect to travel for site visits, and audits as projects require.

What you will do
  • Conduct building assessments using rating schemes such as BREEAM and provide technical advice to optimise performance.

  • Support BREEAM In-Use assessments across standing portfolios, collecting and verifying asset data, scoring against the technical manual, and identifying opportunities for credit uplift.

  • Support BREEAM New Construction and refurbishment assessments, gathering and reviewing evidence, tracking credits, and liaising with the design team and contractor.

  • Support GRESB submissions, including data collection, evidence preparation, gap analysis against the previous year's score, and interpreting the results for clients.

  • Contribute to physical and transition climate risk assessments, running screening and scenario tools, interpreting hazard data, and drafting adaptation and resilience recommendations.

  • Support energy audits and site surveys, including metering and half-hourly data analysis, and identify energy conservation measures for the senior team to build into investment cases.

  • Assist in Sustainability Strategy development by conducting Peer Reviews, Legislation Reviews, Media Reviews, and Stakeholder Interviews.

  • Net Zero Carbon calculations and strategy development.

  • Conduct Sustainability Due Diligence analyses.

  • Manage and prioritise your own workload to meet project deadlines.

  • Produce reports, prepare recommendations, and present to clients and project teams.

  • Assist with pitches and preparing proposals.

  • Opportunities to attend relevant training for the leading rating schemes (BREEAM, GRESB).

What you'll need
  • Preferably a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Sciences / Energy Sciences, Engineering, Building Physics, Building Services Engineering or Architecture (or a related degree).

  • Based in the Randstad region.

  • Good communication skills and a commercial mindset.

  • Excellent command of Dutch and English, spoken and written.

  • Hold a valid category B driving licence.

  • Results-driven, motivated, and engaged personality.

  • Knowledge of climate change legislation and legal requirements for energy management & emission reductions at European level.

  • Knowledge of sustainable techniques and targets at building level.

  • Genuine interest in the built environment, covering both the design and construction of new buildings and the performance of existing ones, and a willingness to work as part of multidisciplinary project and design teams.

  • High levels of numeracy and confidence handling technical and scientific data. You should be comfortable with large datasets, energy and carbon calculations and unit conversions, and able to sense-check your own numbers before they reach a client.

  • Willingness to travel across Europe for site visits, audits and client meetings, usually as short trips.

  • An appetite to build a broad technical base across our service lines in your first few years, and a view on where you might want to specialise after that.

  • Excellent research and analytical skills.

  • Ability to produce structured, concise, and clear reports, summarising results and substantiating conclusions, which may contain highly technical information.

  • Flexible team player who can also work independently.

  • Resilient under pressure and able to handle tight deadlines.

Desirable
  • A sound grasp of building physics and building services principles, enough to understand how a building uses energy and where the opportunities to improve it sit. Exposure to modelling tools such as IES-VE, Energy Plus, TAS or VABI is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with BREEAM (New Construction or In-Use), GRESB, CRREM or climate risk frameworks is an advantage, as is knowledge of BENG, NTA 8800 and MPG in the Netherlands and the equivalent methodologies elsewhere in Europe.
