Job summary

East Carolina University seeks several Assistant Learning Specialists to assist learning specialists in providing academic support to student‑athletes. The role may require daytime and/or evening hours for a semester‑long commitment.

As an assistant, you will help students develop academic skills such as reading, writing, time management, note‑taking, and test preparation, while ensuring accountability and adherence to privacy standards.

Qualifications

• Current ECU student with GPA requirements met.
• Junior or higher academic classification with GPA minimum.
• Interest or background in education or human services encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assist learning specialists in sessions and identify student strengths/weaknesses.
• Collaborate with Academic Services staff on progress strategies.
• Support students with task completion and skill building.
• Complete training on best practices for at‑risk students.
• Provide timely communication on caseload progress.
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all duties.
