Job summary

TNO is seeking a Structural Dynamics Technician to join the Structural Dynamics Lab within the Naval and Offshore Structures department. You design test setups, implement control systems, and perform measurements to understand material and structure behaviour under dynamic loads.

The role involves working with shock machines, shakers, and comprehensive data acquisition in a safety‑driven environment, with opportunities to grow within a leading defence and maritime research lab.

Qualifications

• MBO-level education in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Interest in experimental research and practical understanding of structural behaviour and measurement equipment.
• Willingness to set up and execute measurement campaigns and to build test setups for mechanical research.
• Strong communication, customer focus and results orientation in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Measure accelerations, displacements, pressures, temperatures and forces to assess dynamic behaviour and failure characteristics.
• Design test setups and provide hydraulic or electro‑mechanical control systems.
• Conduct shock and shaker tests using dedicated equipment and facilities.
• Maintain safety focus throughout testing and data acquisition.
• Collaborate with the Structural Dynamics Lab and other teams to deliver reliable results.
