Job summary

TNO seeks a Senior Consultant Ship Design to translate vision on ship vulnerability into innovative research for defence, including crewed and uncrewed vessels. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, connect requirements with structural design solutions, and shape future ship concepts with industry and government partners.

You bring a strong technical foundation, 10+ years in maritime, and excellent Dutch/English communication to drive strategic research and external collaborations.

Qualifications

Completed technical engineering degree with a focus on design of structures and systems.
10+ years of maritime sector experience, ideally with a shipyard or defence context.
Strong communication, customer orientation and ability to translate research into projects.

Responsibilities

Translate vision on ship vulnerability into concrete research activities and innovations.
Lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with industry and government partners.
Provide high-level strategic advice and shape the research direction for defence ship design.
Develop and disseminate insights through publications and presentations.
