Job summary

n8n is building the AI orchestration platform for scalable workflows. As a Staff Platform Architect you will shape the core platform architecture powering more than 80 product engineers and an active open-source community, across cloud and self-hosted deployments.

You will drive architectural direction, define durable platform interfaces, mentor engineers, and enable multiple teams to ship safely. This remote-first role offers significant leverage to evolve systems at scale and influence across

Qualifications

• Staff-level architectural ownership across multiple systems or teams.
• Deep systems thinking: invariants, correctness, failure modes, trade-offs.
• Design highly configurable, scalable systems with clear interfaces.
• Extensive experience with distributed systems concepts and patterns.
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js backend experience.
• Excellent cross-team technical leadership and RFC-driven influence.

Responsibilities

• Drive architecture across Core Platform teams to evolve execution, infrastructure, data, and frontend layers.
• Design adaptable backend foundations to support multiple workloads and deployment models.
• Partner with FE platform workstream on core canvas architecture and real‑time features.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and guidance to raise architectural bar.
• Define durable platform interfaces and contracts to enable safe migrations.
