  • Improve the complete engineering development loop, including local development, CI/CD, deployment processes, production feedback, and developer workflows.
  • Define and drive engineering standards for automated testing, infrastructure as code, observability, reliability, and secure software delivery, while helping product teams adopt them effectively.
  • Build shared tooling, templates, reusable components, and golden paths that reduce friction and provide practical leverage across the engineering organization.
  • Own secure delivery practices end to end by integrating security scanning, secrets management, dependency controls, software supply‑chain protections, and penetration‑testing workflows into core development and delivery pipelines.
  • Monitor and respond to the evolving security landscape, particularly as AI coding agents change how vulnerabilities are introduced, discovered, and potentially exploited.
  • Improve repositories, development conventions, tooling, documentation, test coverage, and feedback loops so AI coding agents can navigate codebases efficiently and produce reliable results.
  • Measure the effectiveness of platform initiatives through DORA metrics and qualitative feedback from engineering teams, using those insights to continuously improve the developer experience.
  • Provide hands‑on technical leadership by setting direction while remaining deeply involved in code, infrastructure, pipelines, and tooling.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Platform Engineer based in Netherlands.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on raising the standard for how software is built, tested, delivered, and operated.
You will shape the platform foundations that product teams and AI coding agents rely on to move quickly and reliably.
The role spans developer experience, CI/CD, infrastructure, automated testing, observability, security, and secure software delivery.
You will establish engineering standards, build reusable tooling and golden paths, and help teams adopt workflows that create measurable leverage.
A key focus will be AI harness engineering: designing development environments and engineering systems where AI agents can work effectively and safely.
You will operate as a builder and technical leader, staying close to code, infrastructure, pipelines, and the evolving needs of engineering teams.
This is an opportunity to have organization-wide impact while helping define how modern software teams collaborate with increasingly capable AI agents.

Accountabilities
  • Shape the platform and infrastructure foundations that product teams build and operate their services on, balancing standardization with team autonomy.
  • Provide hands‑on technical leadership by setting direction while remaining deeply involved in code, infrastructure, automation, and pipeline implementation.
Requirements
  • Strong software engineering background with significant experience building and operating production‑grade systems.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing internal platforms, with strong judgment around what should be abstracted, exposed, standardized, or left flexible.
  • Deep expertise in CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, developer tooling, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Strong understanding of software security and secure delivery approaches, including shift‑left security and SecDevOps principles.
  • Product‑oriented mindset toward internal platforms, treating engineers and AI agents as users and measuring whether tooling genuinely improves their productivity.
  • Practical fluency with AI coding agents, including an understanding of how they operate, where they encounter friction, and how engineering environments can be designed to make them more effective.
  • Ability to operate as a hands‑on technical leader who can define strategy while personally contributing to code, infrastructure, pipelines, and tooling.
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to identify organization‑wide opportunities for standardization, automation, reliability, and developer productivity.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence product teams and drive adoption of shared engineering practices.
  • Experience with end‑to‑end testing frameworks such as Playwright and knowledge of how to scale automated testing environments is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, high‑ownership environment where established processes and playbooks may still be evolving.
Benefits
  • Opportunity to shape the future of software development and AI‑assisted engineering.
  • High level of ownership with direct visibility into the impact of your technical decisions.
  • Individual‑contributor‑focused culture that values engineers who lead through execution and create momentum by building.
  • Opportunity to collaborate with highly experienced AI and software engineering professionals.
  • Global and flexible remote work environment, with an emphasis on results rather than location.
  • Equity participation designed to align individual success with the long‑term growth of the organization.
  • Significant opportunity to influence platform strategy, engineering standards, security practices, and AI‑enabled development workflows.
  • Inclusive environment committed to diversity and equal opportunity.
