Job summary

Serco Space Services - Europe Careers is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to support ESA’s ESTEC Test Centre in Noordwijk. You will contribute to MGSE design, facility development, and hands‑on test campaigns, ensuring quality, safety and ESA compliance.

The role involves planning, testing, documentation, and collaboration with ESA engineers and suppliers while maintaining rigorous standards and procedures in a structured environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or related Engineering.
• Proven experience in MGSE design, mechanical engineering, or test support activities.
• Experience working in test centres, laboratories, or similar engineering environments.
• Knowledge of environmental testing methods and facilities (e.g. vibration, thermal vacuum, acoustic, EMC).
• Experience with CAD tools and mechanical design and analysis methodologies.
• Familiarity with test campaign preparation, execution, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of MGSE for tests at the Test Centre and ESTEC laboratories.
• Prepare MGSE design documentation including 3D models and manufacturing drawings.
• Support installation, verification, and acceptance testing of MGSE.
• Develop and improve test centre facilities for spacecraft environmental testing.
• Coordinate with ESA engineers and facility operators to define test facility requirements.
• Support procurement activities for test facility developments with technical inputs.
• Plan and supervise on-site and off-site facility modification activities.
• Assist with test campaigns across laboratories and test environments.
• Assess test feasibility and define configurations and required equipment.
• Assist in installation and configuration of test equipment with Test Centre personnel.
• Act as Test Engineer or Test Lead during test execution when required.
• Support data acquisition, processing, and analysis; contribute to test reports.
