Job summary

McFly & Brown in the Netherlands is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technical Manager to oversee maintenance, operations and continuous improvement of advanced mechanical test facilities for spacecraft and space hardware qualification.

You will lead a team of specialists, collaborate with international stakeholders, and contribute to European space programs with a focus on safety, reliability and performance.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering and related discipline.
  • Several years of relevant experience in mechanical testing of space hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of vibration test facilities for spacecraft components or subsystems.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage resources and guide teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance, calibration, and operations of mechanical test facilities.
  • Lead and develop the mechanical team, including permanent and temporary staff.
  • Coordinate mechanical testing campaigns, including vibration tests.
  • Evaluate facility and team performance and implement improvements.
  • Interface with customers, subcontractors, suppliers and stakeholders.

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a passion for space technology and leadership? We are looking for a Mechanical Technical Manager to oversee the maintenance, operations, and continuous improvement of highly advanced mechanical test facilities used for spacecraft and space hardware qualification. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of specialists, collaborate with international stakeholders, and contribute directly to the success of major European space programs. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of the aerospace industry in a highly technical and innovative environment.

Your Responsibilities

You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, availability, and operational excellence of the mechanical test facilities

  • Manage and plan maintenance, calibration, and operational activities in line with technical, financial, and contractual requirements
  • Lead and develop the mechanical team, including both permanent and temporary personnel, ensuring appropriate training and qualification levels
  • Coordinate and oversee mechanical testing activities, including vibration and acoustic test campaigns
  • Evaluate facility and team performance, identifying and implementing improvements related to safety, efficiency, and operational effectiveness
  • Act as the primary interface for customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders, while contributing technical and financial input to project proposals

Your Profile
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Several years of relevant experience in the mechanical testing of space hardware
  • Strong knowledge of vibration test facilities used for spacecraft components, subsystems, or complete systems
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage resources and build high-performing technical teams
  • Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive and solution-oriented midset
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Preferred
  • Experience within an international aerospace, space, or high-tech testing environment
