Job description

We’re AD/01, the tech studio that builds the future of food retail. Whether it’s in-store aisles, online baskets, or behind-the-scenes operations, we innovate the daily food experiences for farmers and families, grandmas and greengrocers, and pickers and packers alike.

We’re part of the Ahold Delhaize network, one of the world’s largest global food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-commerce. With 19 strong local brands in Europe, the United States, and Indonesia, we create a meaningful difference for our customers, our people, and the world around us. And we’re looking for the freshest minds excited to create the recipe for change.

Your new role and environment.

The CheckOut & Payments team is responsible for the design, delivery and continuous improvement of NEXA - Ahold Delhaize's next-generation point-of-sale platform built on GK Cloud4Retail and OmniPOS. NEXA serves multiple EU brands across attended and self-service checkout, self-scanning, payments and store-back-office capabilities and is being progressively rolled out to replace fragmented legacy POS solutions across the group.

The NEXA Solution Consultant is a hybrid role that sits at the intersection of functional quality assurance and operational support. You will own release testing activities for new NEXA capabilities entering production and act as the primary L3 support escalation point for functional issues raised by brands and store operations teams. In both tracks, your work directly influences the quality and stability of checkout operations across Ahold Delhaize's EU store network.

This role is embedded within the CheckOut & Payments team and works closely with the Release Manager, L3 Support Manager, QA Manager, GK Software, payment and integration vendors and brand implementation teams.

Key responsibilities of your role.
Release Functional Testing
  • Own the functional test scope for NEXA releases, covering POS transaction flows, self-checkout, self-scanning, payment integration, cash management, loyalty and promotions at checkout, receipts, fiscalisation and store-back-office processes.
  • Design, maintain and execute functional test cases and regression suites aligned to GK Cloud4Retail and OmniPOS release cycles, ensuring coverage across attended checkout, SCO and BYOD/Scan & Go flows.
  • Coordinate test execution across functional streams — including EFT and payment terminal integration, voucher and coupon flows, MDM article data, pricing and promotions interfaces and end‑of‑day processing — validating end‑to‑end scenarios rather than isolated components.
  • Manage defect lifecycle from identification through to resolution and re-test, working with GK Software and internal development teams to triage, prioritise and track fixes within the SAFe delivery cadence.
  • Validate brand-specific configurations and localisation — including fiscal requirements, tender configurations and market‑specific payment methods — prior to brand rollout and go‑live.
  • Participate in PI Planning and Sprint Reviews to maintain visibility of upcoming features and their testing implications, flagging risks to the Release Manager and Product Owners in advance.
  • Contribute to the definition of entry and exit criteria for system demos, UAT gates and production releases.
  • Maintain functional test documentation, test plans and release readiness reports, ensuring traceability between features, test cases and sign‑off decisions.
L3 Functional Support
  • Act as the primary L3 escalation point for functional POS and payments issues raised by brands and store operations teams, triaging incidents beyond L1/L2 resolution capability.
  • Investigate and diagnose complex functional issues across the NEXA stack - including GK OmniPOS and Cloud4Retail, Store Manager, Store Hub, payment terminal integration and in‑store middleware - distinguishing configuration errors, functional defects and integration failures.
  • Own the end-to-end resolution journey for L3 incidents: reproduce and document issues, engage GK Software or relevant vendors where required, validate fixes and confirm resolution with the impacted brand or market.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with brand and operations stakeholders throughout the incident lifecycle, providing structured updates and expected resolution timelines.
  • Identify recurring functional patterns across support tickets and feed these back into the product backlog as known‑issue documentation, configuration improvements, or enhancement requests.
  • Contribute to the NEXA knowledge base, authoring functional runbooks, known‑error records and support guides that enable L1/L2 teams to handle a broader class of issues independently over time.
  • Work with the Release Manager and Product Owners to ensure that high‑impact support findings are reflected in regression test coverage and release validation scope.
  • Support brand implementation and go‑live phases by providing on‑call functional coverage during hypercare periods.
Cross-cutting responsibilities
  • Maintain deep functional knowledge of NEXA capabilities, staying current with GK release notes, configuration changes and platform updates.
  • Work constructively with GK Software, payment vendors and integration partners, maintaining professional relationships while holding vendors accountable for defect resolution SLAs.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Solution Architects and brand teams to validate that functional requirements are correctly implemented and operable under production conditions.
  • Apply a risk-based mindset to both testing and support, focusing effort on the capabilities and integrations with the highest operational impact for checkout continuity.
What’s in it for you?

We ask a lot. (We’re looking for the best, after all). But we offer a lot, too.

So, what do we have in store for you? We provide competitive benefitsto support health, well‑being and your professional growth. This includes: a significant budget on benefit platform and a yearly bonus. At AD01 we welcome everyone, just the way you are, and encourage individual growth with valuable opportunities and a worldwide across‑brand network.

Requirements.
  • 5 or more years of experience in functional testing, application support, or a combined QA and support role — ideally in a retail or POS environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with GK Cloud4Retail, OmniPOS, or a comparable enterprise POS platform is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of retail checkout flows, including attended POS, self‑checkout (SCO) and self‑scanning (BYOD/Scan & Go) and the functional dependencies between them.
  • Practical knowledge of payment integration — EFT, card payment terminals, voucher and coupon processing, cash management and alternative payment methods — and the ability to test and troubleshoot end‑to‑end payment flows.
  • Experience testing or supporting interfaces between POS and enterprise systems such as article master data (MDM/SAP), pricing and promotions, loyalty, e‑commerce (Click & Collect) and end‑of‑day or reporting flows.
  • Familiarity with fiscalisation and market‑specific regulatory requirements for POS and receipts is an advantage.
  • Experience working within a SAFe or agile delivery framework, including participation in PI Planning, Sprint Reviews and release governance processes.
  • Experience managing defects in an issue‑tracking tool such as Jira and maintaining structured test documentation and traceability records.
  • Understanding of L1/L2/L3 support tiering and incident management processes, including escalation paths and SLA management.
  • Familiarity with store‑edge infrastructure concepts — Linux‑based POS environments, local data services and in‑store middleware — sufficient to contextualise functional issues without requiring deep platform engineering expertise.
