HUMANCAPiTAL BV in Leiden is seeking a Software Engineer (Java & React) to join a hybrid team. You will design, develop and test features on a metadata platform used by national libraries across Europe and Asia, with a focus on Java/Spring and React.

The role emphasizes AI-assisted development, collaboration in an international team, and delivering robust software in a fast-paced environment. Hybrid work is offered (3 days in office, 2 from home) with a competitive monthly salary.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience with Java/Spring and with React.
• Experience with AWS (Lambda, EKS, ECS).
• Good knowledge of Linux and scripting.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Git is a plus; C is an advantage.
• Hands-on use of AI tools in daily work.
• Strong English; Dutch is not required.
• A team player who enjoys working in an agile, international environment.

Software Engineer (Java & React) | Leiden | Hybrid (3 days office, 2 from home) | up to €5,000 per month

About the organisation

Our client is an international tech company and library cooperative with its global headquarters in the United States and offices in Leiden and Eelde. From Leiden, a development team builds and maintains a metadata management platform that national libraries and regional library consortia in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Japan use to manage very large collections. The product has grown over decades into a flexible and commercially successful system.

The team

You join an experienced team of 10 software engineers, 2 test engineers and a technical manager. Because the team is quite senior, there is room for someone with a little less experience who wants to grow alongside strong colleagues.

What will you do?
