Job summary

Lely is seeking a Software Architect to shape the technical direction of our autonomous farming ecosystem. You’ll define architectures across frontend, backend, APIs, and cloud platforms while guiding teams and contributing hands-on where it adds the most value.

You will coach engineers, manage stakeholders, and partner with Product, UX, Data, and Platform teams to deliver scalable, maintainable software. Hybrid work on campus, with strong growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience as a Software Architect, Lead Engineer, or Senior Software Engineer with architectural responsibilities.
• Broad understanding of frontend, backend, APIs, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices.
• Experience designing scalable and maintainable architectures in complex environments.
• Ability to balance innovation, technical constraints, and business priorities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management within Agile environments.
• Experience with technologies such as .NET, distributed systems, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and modern frontend frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve end-to-end software architectures across frontend, backend, integrations, and platform domains.
• Support development teams in architectural decisions balancing business needs and technical quality.
• Contribute hands-on to solution design, prototyping, and critical implementations.

As a Software Architect, you shape the technical direction of this ecosystem. You work closely with software engineers, product teams and other technical disciplines to design scalable solutions while helping teams continuously improve the way they build software. This is a hands‑on architecture role where technical leadership, collaboration and software craftsmanship go hand in hand.

You are responsible for guiding architectural decisions across multiple domains while remaining closely connected to implementation. Whether you are defining architectural direction, supporting teams in making technical trade‑offs, or contributing to critical parts of the solution yourself, your work directly influences the quality, scalability, and maintainability of our products.

Your main responsibilities include:

Qualifications

You are an experienced software professional who enjoys working at both strategic and technical levels. You know how to create alignment across teams, can communicate complex technical concepts clearly, and enjoy helping others grow. In addition, you bring:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience as a Software Architect, Lead Engineer, or Senior Software Engineer with architectural responsibilities.
• A broad understanding of modern software development across multiple domains, such as frontend applications, backend services, APIs, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices.
• Experience designing scalable and maintainable software architectures in complex environments.
• The ability to balance innovation, technical constraints, and business priorities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills within multidisciplinary Agile environments.
• Experience with technologies such as .NET, distributed systems, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and modern frontend frameworks is highly valuable.
