Job summary

FairPlay Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning and handover of high-voltage installations. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, reliable delivery aligned with customer requirements.

You will conduct functional tests, verify performance, support FAT/SAT/SIT, and develop commissioning procedures and documentation while maintaining strong safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• MBO-4 or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience working with secondary systems and PAC installations.
• Experience testing and commissioning high-voltage substations and electrical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of protection, automation, and control systems.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to play a key role in the testing, commissioning, and handover of high-voltage installations. This position offers the opportunity to work on critical energy infrastructure projects, ensuring that complex systems are delivered safely, reliably, and in accordance with customer requirements

You will join a multidisciplinary team specialising in high-voltage infrastructure projects. Working closely with engineering teams, project managers, clients, and site personnel, the department is responsible for the testing, commissioning, and successful delivery of secondary systems and protection, automation, and control installations that support the modern electricity grid.

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for independently testing and commissioning secondary systems within high-voltage environments. You will carry out functional testing, verify system performance, support FAT, SAT, and SIT activities, and ensure installations are ready for safe operation. You will coordinate closely with project teams and customers, prepare commissioning documentation, track outstanding issues, and play a leading role in the successful handover of installations. What do you need

• MBO-4 or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience working with secondary systems and PAC installations.
• Experience testing and commissioning high-voltage substations and electrical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of protection, automation, and control systems.
• Experience testing auxiliary AC and DC power supply systems.
• Experience checking and testing secondary wiring, control circuits, and power connections.
• Experience commissioning protection relays (IEDs) and PAC systems.
• Knowledge of high-voltage components including transformers, switchgear, and related equipment.
• Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and System Integration Tests (SIT).
• Ability to develop test plans and commissioning procedures.
• Experience recording test results and preparing as-built documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive and solution-oriented approach.
• Strong awareness of safety procedures and safe working practices within high-voltage environments.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.

• Experience with protection and control systems in transmission and distribution networks.
• Experience working directly with grid operators, utilities, or energy infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with quality inspections, commissioning documentation, and installation handover processes.
