Hitachi Energy The Netherlands B.V. is seeking a Site HSE Manager to oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental activities on a busy construction site in Rotterdam.

You will guide safe work practices, coach teams, and foster a strong safety culture on the HVDC project. You will coordinate with the Site Manager, HVDC HSE team, subcontractors, and client representatives to set up HSE processes, ensure Dutch law adherence, and improve site practices.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Dutch and English.
  • HSE diploma such as MVK, HVK, or another recognized qualification.
  • VOL‑VCA certification.
  • Experience on large construction sites with multiple contractors.
  • Knowledge of Dutch legislation including the Arbobesluit.
  • Understanding of the Safety Culture Ladder (SCL).

  • Prepare and review safety documents like risk assessments and method statements.
  • Act as the main HSE contact for the project and the site.

The opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, you will help ensure the safe delivery of one of the largest HVDC projects in the Netherlands. As a Site HSE Manager, you guide all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities on a busy construction site. You support safe work practices, coach teams, and help create a strong safety culture.

This role places you in the center of a high‑profile project that supports the energy transition. You work closely with the Site Manager, the global HVDC HSE team, subcontractors, and client representatives. You will set up HSE processes, improve site practices, and ensure all activities follow Dutch law and company standards.

You will develop your leadership skills through direct engagement with workers, supervisors, and project teams. You will help solve real site challenges, guide incident investigations, and influence safe behaviors every day. This is a site‑based position, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work.
