Hitachi Energy is seeking a Project Manager Engineering to join our Grid Integration business in Rotterdam. In this hands‑on role, you will lead and coordinate all engineering activities across tenders and execution phases for high‑ and medium‑voltage substation projects. You will translate customer requirements into robust technical solutions, manage scope, schedule, cost and risk for the engineering workstream, and act as the technical counterpart to our customers and supply partners. The preferred base is Rotterdam with hybrid working; occasional domestic and international travel is expected.
Lead end‑to‑end engineering activities for designated tenders and projects, ensuring scope, budget, schedule, quality, and HSE objectives are met.
Provide technical support during tendering: define scope, prepare BoQs for engineered items, and contribute to risk and opportunity reviews.
Serve as technical lead for substation solutions: develop system architectures, perform sizing and calculations, and ensure design compliance with standards and customer specifications.
Plan the engineering work: build work plans, estimates, and resource plans; monitor progress and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate across functions: collaborate closely with Sales & Tendering, Project Management, Site Installation and Commissioning teams to secure seamless delivery.
Engage customers and stakeholders: lead technical meetings, resolve site queries, align on deliverables, and support customer acceptance.
Drive supplier engagement: prepare specifications, evaluate offers, and coordinate with Supply Chain Management for materials, equipment, and services.
Proactively manage risk and quality: conduct and support risk assessments, implement mitigation actions, and perform Safety Observation tours for HSE hazards.
Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
Approximately 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering for utility/industrial HV and MV substations.
Proven track record planning and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering scope across tender and execution phases.
Strong knowledge of substation design techniques, processes, and tools; familiarity with BIM is an advantage.
Skilled communicator able to influence and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
Language skills: Fluent in Dutch and English.
