Job summary

NRL is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead health and safety on a major construction project in the Netherlands. The role requires EU citizenship or the right to work in the Netherlands, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of construction HSE regulations.

You will drive safety planning, risk assessment, and reporting on-site. Responsibilities include directing safety teams, conducting audits, and delivering toolbox talks and training to staff and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Must have EU citizenship or right to work in the Netherlands.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in occupational health and safety.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices in construction.
• Proven experience leading health and safety on large construction projects.
• Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Experience managing safety teams or site-based safety professionals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the health and safety function on assigned projects.
• Provide advice and direction to project teams, engineers and supervisors on safety requirements.
• Ensure safety is embedded in planning, delivery and close-out stages of the project.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and internal procedures.

• Demonstrated experience in managing safety teams or site-based safety professionals.

Nice-to-have Skills

• Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or on projects such as infrastructure, life sciences or data centres.
• Familiarity with digital tools for safety reporting and performance tracking.
• Knowledge of occupational health and behavioural safety initiatives.
• Postgraduate qualification in health and safety, risk management or related disciplines.
• Additional training in behavioural safety or leadership coaching.
• Experience in environmental and sustainability aspects of project delivery.
