Business Continuity Management | Global Enterprise Resilience Platform Role
ServiceNow Developer Specialism
Business Continuity Management (BCM)
Duration: 6 months
Experience required: 4–7 years
About the role
We are looking for a ServiceNow Developer to build and own the technical layer of a global enterprise Business Continuity Management (BCM) capability. This is a deep, hands-on engineering role rather than an advisory one: you will design the underlying data structures, configure the workspaces, and build the automated workflows that carry the organisation through a disruption.
The work centres on making resilience operational. You will translate critical business applications, multi-tiered infrastructure, and their dependencies into a synchronised blueprint anchored in the CMDB, then build the thresholds, alert boundaries, and orchestration guardrails that keep a disruption from turning into a catastrophic outage.
The role sits at the intersection of BCM, Integrated Risk Management, and IT operations, so you will work across the platform rather than within a single module.
Key responsibilities
Architect resilience governance
- Own the technical deployment, database schema layout, and workspace configuration for the global enterprise ServiceNow BCM layer.
- Configure and extend the central Crisis Management Workspace, including mass notification alerts, scenario-based event maps, and role-based crisis coordination consoles.
Map infrastructure to vulnerabilities
- Catalogue critical business applications, multi-tiered infrastructure layers, and their dependencies into a synchronised, resilient blueprint backed by the platform CMDB.
- Set up the Business Impact Analysis dependency map, configure assessment templates, score impact levels, and establish RTO and RPO thresholds.
Build thresholds and containment boundaries
- Implement operational risk alert boundaries and crisis orchestration guardrails that prevent downtime, communication bottlenecks, and severe business disruption.
- Develop automated continuity workflows, structured plan templates, tabletop exercise frameworks, and real-time execution checklists.
Disaster recovery and integrations
- Design automated IT asset restoration sequences, data backup validations, failover tracking dashboards, and service restoration timelines mapped directly to the CMDB.
- Integrate BCM workflows with external alert monitors, vendor risk portals, and third-party IT infrastructure tooling via Integration Hub and REST/SOAP APIs.
Risk and compliance
- Connect BCM structures to the overarching Integrated Risk Management (IRM) layer.
- Develop compliance assessment matrices, track internal control gaps, and build executive resilience dashboards.
Required skills and experience
- 6–8 years of ServiceNow experience, with hands-on delivery in a Business Continuity Management or Integrated Risk Management context.
- BIA engine architecture: setting up dependency maps, assessment templates, impact scoring, and RTO/RPO thresholds.
- Continuity plan and crisis lifecycle engineering: automated continuity workflows, plan templates, tabletop exercise frameworks, and live execution checklists.
- Disaster recovery integration: asset restoration sequencing, backup validation, failover tracking, and CMDB-mapped restoration timelines.
- Crisis Management Workspace: configuring and extending the workspace, mass notification alerts, event maps, and coordination consoles.
- BCM risk framework and compliance controls: linking BCM to the IRM layer, compliance matrices, control gap tracking, and executive dashboards.
- Cross-platform resiliency orchestration: Integration Hub and REST/SOAP integrations with alert monitors, vendor risk portals, and third-party infrastructure tooling.
