Job summary

Koole GmbH seeks a Chief Engineer for our ocean-going tugs to ensure optimal engine room performance and availability. You will conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and oversee MARAD logging and maintenance systems.

Depending on vessel, you may lead a technical team or work solo, reporting to the Master and coordinating with our shore-based Technical Department. Fluent Dutch and English are required, with strong planning, reporting, and independent work skills.

Qualifications

• Valid Chief Engineer certificate for all ships required.
• STCW certificates, medical exam and seaman’s book plus Dutch/English language ability.
• Proven experience as Chief Engineer on vessels, with leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, efficient propulsion and auxiliary systems operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance and record in MARAD system.
• Troubleshoot faults and fix issues, even under time pressure.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and technical records.
• Manage spare parts, consumables, and deliveries; lead technical crew when needed.
