Overview

As a Chief Engineer in towage, you are the driving force behind the optimal operation of all equipment in the engine room. Your responsibilities include the operation and safety of the machinery and systems on board. You play a key role in operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and flawless execution of towing operations.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Direct the engine room personnel. This applies to larger towage vessels.
  • Monitor the operation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and systems, with special attention to the unique needs of towing operations.
  • Responsible for planning and executing maintenance and repair work, with a special focus on the reliability of key systems during towing actions.
  • Ensure compliance with international and local maritime legislation, with a strong emphasis on towage-specific regulations.
  • Coordinate logistics around fuel, oil, lubricants, and other essential supplies for effective and efficient towing operations.
  • Act as the crucial link between the Master and the engine room personnel to ensure clear communication and coordination during towing missions.
