Xebia in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Scala Software Engineer to shape the architecture of a next-gen image management platform. You will build scalable JVM libraries in Scala for uploads and URL generation, and migrate services onto a unified abstraction layer with backward compatibility.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong JVM background; Scala highly preferred.
• Solid grasp of microservices & event-driven design and inter-service communication.
• Experience running services in AWS or GCP with production SLAs.
• DevOps mindset: CI/CD and deployment automation, IaC familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Translate product/architecture requirements into clear technical specs and implementation plans.
• Design and implement provider-agnostic JVM libraries (Scala) for uploads & URL generation.
• Migrate services onto the new abstraction layer with backward compatibility and zero user impact.
• Ship robust, well-tested code that follows industry best practices and existing architecture patterns.
• Contribute to architecture reviews, code reviews, and long-term media platform decisions.
