Job summary

Xccelerated | Part of Xebia in Amsterdam is seeking a Software Engineer (Scala) to join a high-impact modernization project. You will design and implement provider-agnostic JVM libraries for uploads, translate requirements into technical specs, and migrate services to a new abstraction layer with minimal user impact.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years building large-scale distributed systems, a strong JVM background with Scala, and solid experience in microservices and event-driven design.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong JVM background, Scala highly preferred.
• Solid grasp of microservices & event-driven design and inter-service communication.
• Comfortable running services in AWS or GCP with production SLAs.

Responsibilities

• Translate product/architecture requirements into clear technical specs and implementation plans.
• Design and implement provider-agnostic JVM libraries (Scala) for uploads & URLs.
• Migrate services onto the new abstraction layer with backward compatibility and zero user impact.
• Ship robust, well-tested code that follows industry best practices and existing architecture patterns.
• Contribute to architecture reviews, code reviews, and long-term media platform decisions.
