Job summary

BlockTech in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own data infrastructure at scale, shaping ingestion, storage, and streaming for our crypto trading platforms. You will work with real-time data systems across Kafka, NATS, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Iceberg, and drive reliability, performance, and architectural excellence.

You will mentor engineers, define technical standards, and collaborate with trading and research teams to keep data trustworthy and accessible for fast decision

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a software engineer with production data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Own the ingest path and land data in trading systems in real time.
• Architect the streaming layer with Kafka and NATS for throughput and guarantees.
• Build the storage layer across PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Iceberg with fast queries as volumes grow.
• Run and maintain capacity, retention, schema evolution, and failure behavior for self-hosted infra.
• Design data quality flows to detect gaps, duplicates, and drift, fixing them before downstream use.
• Enable other teams by providing reliable platforms and reusable libraries.
• Drive end-to-end projects from concept to production with full ownership.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical direction across the team.
