Job summary

Shypple in Rotterdam is looking for a senior backend developer to strengthen our Ruby on Rails API, focusing on server-side logic, scalability, and performance. You will join a squad of engineers building a fast, globally scalable logistics platform.

With 6+ years backend experience, you’ll own features end-to-end, work closely with product and SRE, and help push architecture, testing, and CI/CD. Relocation to the Netherlands is provided; hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• 6+ years backend experience, preferably Ruby on Rails, open to similar languages.
• Solid PostgreSQL/SQL depth with indexing and performance awareness.
• Strong testing discipline and end-to-end ownership mindset.
• English fluency and fast learning of business/product requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and scale Ruby code for Rails API end-to-end.
• Own core backend features from domain modelling to production rollout.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy a high-performance app.
• Drive scalability, performance, and tech debt reduction across the codebase.
• Provide pragmatic technical guidance and code reviews to the squad.
• Contribute to platform architecture decisions and problem solving.
